Bridging Higher Education and Professional Careers

Empowering and motivating students to become engaged global citizens begins with a robust internship experience—one that reinforces higher education by providing dynamic, experiential learning opportunities, global leadership development, substantive work and an emphasis on civic engagement. When you support The Washington Center, you invest in the emerging workforce by preparing today’s students to successfully manage tomorrow’s challenges.

Founded in 1975, The Washington Center (TWC) is a private, nonprofit organization that prepares students for their professional lives beyond college and the complex challenges facing their communities and countries. We accomplish this important goal by enhancing the higher-education experience for students worldwide through programs that extend the classroom into practical applications and foster leadership and social responsibility. Harnessing the power of our collaborative relationships has made us a true leader in the field of experiential education.

Leveraging the best that Washington, D.C. has to offer, our experiential learning program is the largest of its kind in the world, serving nearly 2,000 students annually from the United States and more than 30 countries.

Our success, and the success of the thousands of students we serve globally, rely on the gifts of like-minded partners that share our vision to strengthen the workforce pipeline by shaping students into engaged, effective leaders who are skilled in their professions and committed to civic engagement.

Join the hundreds of corporations, foundations, governments, alumni and friends that provide critical financial support as part of their commitment to prepare a new global workforce. Contact us at or (202) 238-7900 to discuss how to empower students through your support.
