Mollycoddle
Word in Washington
Mollycoddle: to coddle excessively, to pamper
I'm mollycoddling myself with Double Dark Chocolate Fudge from Kilwin's Chocolate in Annapolis, Maryland. Mmmm...are you envious yet?!
Internship
What a week so far at NHMA. We are less than a week away from our Congressional Briefing. We have four prestigious speakers at this event; one being from the Office of the Surgeon General. Our topic hits on reducing health disparities and costs.
We're also busy with Scholarship Dinner preparations. One takes place in California, while the second is in New York. Applications are starting to flood the mail. It's inspiring to see Hispanic students pursuing the medical route as they further their educations. Like any scholarship, ours can be a positive boost to help them achieve their goals.
World War II Memorial
A must-see memorial if ever in our nation's capital. Such a beautiful sky that evening as well...
U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD)
Go to the museum once on the Academy's grounds. So much to learn about.
Many, many hand-crafted ship models like the one below. Such precision. Very cool.
Could you survive on this weekly grocery list?
A view from the pier.
Some more of that fudge... :) $8.50 for 1/2 pound??? Yes, it's worth it!
Pentagon MemorialThis was my first visit to a 9/11 memorial. The feeling I felt is impossible to explain. It struck me to see those who lost their lives and were born the same year I was. I encourage you to give of your time and experience one.
National Portrait Gallery
My favorite Smithsonian museum thus far. Three floors of astounding artwork. I commend such work by artists because I lack horribly in artistic abilities.
Arnold Palmer
A taste of the "contemporary" section. This is the United States and all of its state outlined colorfully. We were blown away! There are televisions of all sizes within each state's outline/boundaries. The TVs displayed the state's major "achievement"...i.e. Ohio had aviation-related showings. Idaho had potatoes on their TVs.
Civic Engagement
The Director of D.C. Hunger Solutions spoke at our meeting last night. We've been asked to participate in a research project to help them out. In November, we'll be conducting surveys in D.C.'s grocery stores. We will have a checklist of healthy items to search for in each store and note the costs of such items. This helps to recognize which areas of D.C. have access to healthy foods and at what prices. I'm ecstatic about this opportunity. Oddly enough, I love roaming grocery stores.
I'm in shock with the lack of comments/questions... No feedback/questions? Holding it all in?
Until next time, mollycoddle yourself!
