The Internship
This is my fourth week interning and things are really starting to pick up. Fortunately, I don't have to do any stapling or filing. The first few weeks were slow and long but now that Congress is back in full, the office is beginning to get a bit crazy. The work I am doing is becoming more and more meaningful to me. Every project I get assigned to is different and I'm starting to pick up a lot of insight on how everything works. They are beginning to give us opportunities to interact with clients, i.e. attending meetings, going out for lunch, etc. It's a good experience to learn about the dynamics of all these relationships and definitely a great way to learn more about the process of networking!
And thank you mCapitol for making my birthday a special one :)

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!Thomas Jefferson Memorial
I will admit, the name Thomas Jefferson... did not ring a bell to me. And of course, I had to ask my fellow American friends why he was deserving of such a grand memorial. So, for all those international students who are wondering the same thing, Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States, and the principle author of the Declaration of Independence. He was one of the founding fathers of America, and indeed a very important person.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial
...and his famous dog, Fala. I don't think Franklin needs an introduction :)
Holocaust Museum

Unfortunately, I was only able to make it to one museum this weekend. The Holocaust Museum was quite an experience. It was very powerful and almost too much to handle. If you do not have tolerance for brutal and gruesome images, I would suggest maybe steering away from this one. It will take at least two hours to traverse through there. I really recommend people visit the museum though, and hope that they can take something meaningful away from it.
What else is there to do in DC?? There are countless museums and memorials. And the best part of it, they are all free (or close to it). If I went to one every day for the next 3 months, I still wouldn't have visited half of them. The Smithsonians alone would take at least 2 trips a week in the next three and a half months. So, there it is, your weekly dosage of memorials/museums.
Emma's Famous Brownies!
