Hello Again!!!

Hello folks, and welcome back to my blog.

Well first off, before I get into the meat of my blog and the main topic of discussion, I have a lot of pictures that I have saved up, and I might as well share with you my experiences.

Lucky Lanes is a bowling alley/bar in Chinatown that I went to after work with my co-workers. It was fun even though I can't bowl if I was forced to.

This was the H St. Festival that occured on the 17th of September, and this was one of the best festival/street fairs that I've been to...food, drinks , and entertainment. Need I say more?

A creative piece of art...

A band performing. Don't know its name, though :(

This band played their way along the festival, and it was really good.

A view of the fair.

Another interesting piece that was attached to a vehical.

Well thats all I want to show you now, but I will show more next week ;)

Now back to regular scheduled programming….

I would like to focus on tips for current and prospective students when living in DC. Hopefully these insights will help your stay here to be more comfortable and convenient.

For the prospective student who doesn't know what he or she is getting into, you should consider making a checklist--and no, not the checklist the center gives you, but a more thorough checklist that coincides to your habits and customs......

Always Over Pack

I'd rather pack a lot of things and not use them at all, than having to spend more money on the stuff that I neglected to bring.

Research

I know some people (like myself) don't do thorough researching into the places that they are traveling to. And when I say research I mean research, and not just for the hottest night clubs.

Weather

What times of the year does it get cold or hot?

Should I pack an extra coat? Hoodie? Windbreaker?

Umbrella perhaps?

Transit System

What lines and buses are close to my destination?

How much does it cost?

Delays?

Formulate a Budget Plan

http://s4.hubimg.com/u/1905043_f260.jpg

DC is far from cheap--I can tell you that much. At first I thought DC was competing with NYC for the top spot on inflation. I have been accustomed to FL enough to only spend $4.50 max on a burger from Five Guys. The D.C. version is $5.50. Plus, the confused transit system doesn’t want to pick a fixed rate on fares. The costs depend on your starting place and destination.

By having a proper budget on your stay here, however, you will save hundreds.

So I recommend you shop at the right places, and that would include Giant or Safeway for groceries. Harris Teeter to me is too expensive. You’ll be looking to spend at least $150 + on about three bags of groceries, but if you can afford it, then be my guest.

On H Street, there are plenty of stores that you can go to, to satisfy your needs, so make sure you also check that out.

Well that's all folks, make sure you tune in next time, as I discuss something I haven’t thought of yet at this moment……Peace.
