Goodbye Australia, Take it Easy
Sunday, August 07, 2011As I reminisce this past trip, I can’t help but realize that the some of best two months of my life are now completed. I spent 6 weeks in one of the most beautiful continents in the world, one with a population of some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am very thankful for The Washington Center to have allowed me this incredible opportunity, because I know that without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.
The Great Barrier Reef
Wednesday, July 27, 2011This past week was one of the craziest, most memorable weeks of my summer. I traveled up north to Queensland and spent a week vacationing in the city of Cairns. Some people believe that Australia is a country where every city is a “vacation spot,” now I can assure you, that is not the case. Right now I am sitting in my Sydney apartment looking out seeing only rain and clouds...kind of depressing, I know, but Cairns was completely different. The sun was shining when I landed and the scenery was unlike anything I had ever seen.
Beach Part II
Saturday, July 16, 2011This past weekend, a few of us went back to Bondi Beach, mainly to skate on an ice rink that was recently added. I know what you are thinking, “who spends thousands of dollars to put an ice rink in the middle of a beautiful beach?” The answer is simple…Australia does. Every year for the winter festival, a large ice rink is put on top of Bondi Beach, to provide Australians with an activity unlike anything they have ever experienced.
The Australian Petting Zoo
Wednesday, July 06, 2011Although the Taronga Zoo was amazing, we were not allowed to touch or play with the animals, so today, we went to a petting zoo. One of the main things that I wanted to do in Australia was play with a kangaroo. Today was the day I finally got my wish
Zoo Day
Friday, July 01, 2011Becoming a part of Australia's wildlife is impossible while residing in Sydney. I don't particularly mind this due to the fact that I dislike almost every animal that isn't either a cat, or a dog. But i did want to experience some of it, even if I wa
A day at the beach!
Tuesday, June 28, 2011This past weekend was the first time many of us went to the beautiful beaches of Australia, mainly due to the fact that it is winter, and has been raining almost everyday. We were determined to go swimming at the beach, even in inclement weather, so when we found out it was nice, we were thrilled to say the least.
Education in Australia
Sunday, June 19, 2011During my stay in Sydney, I have been interning at a business called iPitch.
Kangaroos, Nemo, AND the Opera House!
Friday, June 10, 2011This first week in Sydney has been an eye-opening experience--one that was unexpected to say the least.
The Beginning
Friday, June 10, 2011The beginning of our trip to Australia began with a one-hour delay stuck inside a muggy, cramped, Boeing 777. With the internship group spread throughout the 450+ seats occupied, each person got to know their neighbor.
