You might have some questions about housing. I live at the TWC's Resident Academic Facility or RAF. At first, I was skeptical about TWC's housing. I wasn't quite sure what it looked like and thought it was too expensive. But as the calendar got closer to the summer, I just decided that it might be easier to go with their housing partially because I didn't want to deal with searching for apartments or roommates.

Wondering what kind of people you will meet? I can promise it will be an eclectic group. Take my roommates for example; we have an environmental-engineering major, a philosophy major, a studio art major, and an aspiring lawyer. Our most commonly watched TV shows range from Law&Order to Glee. All of us are in different programs and classes at TWC. Our areas of study are as different as the places we are from. Coming from Massachusetts, Texas, New Hampshire, and Puerto Rico our room is a good example of how everyone here is different.

No experience here is the same. What your experience will be like may be nothing like the people living with you. The routines and jobs include a wide variety. While many students wear dresses and business suits to work, I wear T-shirts and shorts.

How much paper are you making? I suppose that you would want some internship experience to boost your resume and make more. I get all of that at my internship.  I work at a non-profit; the Pyramid Atlantic Center. It's a printmaking art center and today we made paper. So much that I'm surrounded by paper all day. Sometimes paper's green and sometimes paper is an old pair of jeans beat to a pulp.  

When you get to D.C. make sure to spend a little quality time with your monuments and historic buildings. If you're going to be a good little tourist in D.C. it won't be difficult because around every corner is a monument. If you've never been you can't help but be impressed by the majestic quality of the city. It's one of the most beautiful and more importantly cleanest cities I've ever been to.

Friends keep asking me why I'm doing The Washington Center with a look of confusion on their faces. I must say I can't blame them, especially because I'm usually knee-deep in clay and look like a mud wrestler. Not your pristine business-woman or politician.
