Today marks exactly a week since I’ve left DC.  I had this blog half-written before I left, got too busy packing my embarrassing amount of things, and then was only home for a day and a half before I took off to NYC, so my bad.  I apologize.

As I’m sitting in my little desk in the back of ST&R’s office in the Reagan building, it suddenly occurred to me that I only have a week left here.  I’m taking tomorrow off to go home for Easter, and there’s a pretty good chance I’ll be coming back to Washington on Monday morning so I won’t be making it into the office that day either since we have programming in the afternoon.  I don’t know when the next time I’ll be in Washington will be after this program ends, and I have mixed feelings about it.  I’m a little sad to be leaving DC not having had enough time to see everything I wanted

I honestly don’t know a single person who likes Mondays, or even harbors any belief that they can be enjoyed for that matter.  Monday symbolizes the end of a weekend of relaxation, a return to responsibilities, and the start of a five-day countdown until the next weekend.  However, here in Washington Mondays have become my favorite day of the week.  I never thought I’d say that – ever – I am one of those people who starts a countdown to Friday on my dry-erase board back at SJU on Sunday nights. 

10.  Cyclists and runners take over the National Mall on the weekends, making it nearly impossible for those not athletically-inclined to walk along it without the threat of being run over. 9. Those who prefer to bag their high-heels for the morning metro commute find themsleves wearing flip-flops instead of Uggs. 8. The plethora of fountains found throughout the city emerge from their winter-long drought.
