An Open Letter to My TWC Friends

An Open Letter to My TWC Friends

It’s hard to believe this summer is already over. It seems like just yesterday we were meeting for the first time outside We The Pizza and exploring the Botanical Gardens and Museum of Natural History together. I never thought the random group of strangers I met that day would become such an important part of my life.

After my 18-hour car ride home this past weekend (which I never would have survived without your entertaining Snapchats), someone asked me, “What was the best part of your summer?” It took me all of one second to come up with the answer: my friends. Because of you, I had the most fun, life-changing, dramatic, adventurous, and transformative summer ever.

This summer was filled with incredible adventures. We accidentally saw the President of the United States speak at Arlington, found ourselves stranded at the beach, rooted for the Washington Nationals, Tampa Bay Rays, Columbia Fireflies, and New York Mets at various baseball games, attended the Chance the Rapper and DJ Oreo concert, paddle boated in the Tidal Basin, kayaked on the Potomac, biked around the National Mall, sang karaoke, visited the National Zoo, went to Jazz in the Garden, frequented Ultra Bar, watched the sunrise from the Lincoln Memorial, hiked at Rock Creek and Great Falls Park, spontaneously went to New York City, and hosted the best BBQs The Washington Center has ever known.

These memories will always hold a special place in my heart. Though our summer may have come to an end, this is just the beginning of a lifelong friendship. We each come from different corners of the United States (and Canada), but I know we will all be back together in Washington D.C. one day. Until then, I’m looking forward to visiting Arizona, Maine, and Alberta, and playing tour guide in Florida when you all come to visit.

Thank you again for the best times of my life. I can’t wait to be back together soon! In the meantime, I will see you all on Snapchat and Houseparty.

Ciao for now,
Emily Pingleton
