Celebrating My 21st Birthday

Celebrating My 21st Birthday

If you were to ask me a few weeks ago how I felt about celebrating my 21st birthday, I honestly would have had no idea. At the time, I was simply not that over-zealous about approaching the big 21. For some people, 21 is a prime number (of course, not in the mathematical sense) because it is associated with a "coming of age" and legal drinking. But, for me, it was just an arbitrary number.

Then, five days ago, it dawned on me that I was only going to be in D.C. for a limited amount of time and that I should take advantage of the occasion. So, last weekend, I celebrated my birthday in the heart of Washington D.C.

I kicked off the day at Potter's House, where I ordered a garden omelet with spinach, tomatoes, onion, peppers, and mushrooms. As I ate my meal and drank my coffee, I video-chatted my partner and filled him in on my experience.

For dinner, my friends joined me at Masala Art to make the day even more celebratory. At Masala Art, I had goat cheese vegetable dumplings dipped in a creamy sauce and sweet, creamy mango lassi. I felt like King Arthur, sitting at the round table, watching all of my friends enjoying the food and the experience. I was glad to see that everyone was in good spirits and that my non-TWC friends were becoming well-acquainted with my TWC ones.

After dinner, I finally decided to go explore some of the nightlife in D.C. My friends and I bar-hopped and found ourselves getting great vibes from Nellie's Sports Bar, the #1 sports bar in D.C. As we walked around the bar, I was struck by how many accolades Nellie's has received over the years. The music varied from early 90's hits to today's hits, so there was a lot of dancing and all of the people we interacted with were all in such a gregarious mood. I would definitely come back again!

Well, there's the wrap-up of my 21st birthday. Nothing too wild, but nothing too ordinary either. I am so glad that I got to celebrate it in D.C.!

Alla prossima,
P.
