Pumpkin Fever in D.C.

Pumpkin Fever in D.C.

As the fall weather starts to come in full swing, you have probably noticed that everyone has gone pumpkin crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I love pumpkin: I am all about pumpkin spice lattes and the good old classic pumpkin pie. This year though, all companies are trying to get in on the pumpkin action, producing pumpkin ice cream, various types of pumpkin cold cereals and, yes, even pumpkin Greek yogurt!

If you are like me and don’t want your fitness goals to suffer as the weather starts getting colder, here’s a great recipe to satisfy your pumpkin cravings while staying on track with your fitness. This recipe is gluten-free, paleo-friendly, with a vegan option! And if you are a "normal folk" who doesn’t follow strict diets, it’s perfect for you too, since the highlight is pumpkin!

Even though we are in a city, there are a lot of pumpkin-related events to do, as well as some classic fall time festivals right here in the city! The Washington Center is taking it’s very own trip to historic Frederick, MD at the end of October, and it’s going to be an awesome time! Below are some other great fall events in the D.C. area:

Trick

Scream City is back in D.C. starting next weekend! If you enjoy the trick in trick or treat this event is for you! There are several levels of scream to check out, ages 10-99+.

Trick and Treat

If you don't want to choose trick or treat then don't...have both! Check out Night of the Living Zoo on October 28th at the National Zoo! Costumes are a must and there will be intense performance art, including fire-eaters. This is an adult-only event.

Treat

Lastly, if you are just about the treat in trick or treat, then check out Zombie Donuts (appropriately named) for some delicious Halloween-themed donuts. They have vegan donuts, too! Are you more of a cupcake person? Check out Georgetown Cupcake for spooky ghost or stringy spider web themed cupcakes; vegan and gluten-free options available!

I hope you liked my top three pumpkin/fall themed events, but there are so many more events happening around the city in October! I highly suggest looking up something you want to do - chances are it’s happening in D.C.!

Happy autumn to all,

Hannah
