Goodbye D.C.

Monday, December 15, 2014

The fall 2014 TWC program has now officially come to an end. I am sad to say that this is my final blog, but it has been fun being able to update all of you about what is going on here in D.C. As associated with final weeks, there were a ton of goodbyes and bittersweet moments, but in the end, I think all the TWC students can look back and see how much they improved and how close we all became. One Final Week

Monday, December 08, 2014

So it's true: time flies. We have now reached the final week here at TWC. I still feel as though there is a lot left to do and so many things that I still want to see. This past week has been a mad scramble between finishing assignments at my internship, studying for my final exam, and putting together my portfolio. It’s almost like exam week back at university.   Commencement

Thanksgiving Weekend in D.C.

Monday, December 01, 2014

For Thanksgiving weekend, I decided to stay in D.C.

Still Trying To Reflect

Monday, November 24, 2014

In the spirit of TWC activities, I will attempt to reflect upon my experiences of this week. My general reflections of the past week have been that it was quite cold and that I was really busy. Getting Colder

Inside Foggy Bottom

Sunday, November 16, 2014

There is only one month left in our program, and time has gone so quick. This week, I'll cover some of the things I get to do at my internship. One of the perks of interning at the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training is that we get access to events in the State Department. Just as a side note, the term “Foggy Bottom” not only refers to the area in D.C., but it is also a reference to the State Department.

Networking Crash Course

Monday, November 10, 2014

Being in D.C. has really exposed me to a lot of organizations and people in the relevant fields that I would like to potentially work in. Combined with the assignments from TWC and the various events that are hosted, my time here has been a crash course in networking.

Boo! It's Halloween!

Saturday, November 01, 2014

This past week was the last in October, which means that Halloween happened. Amongst other things, it was really fun learning about Halloween customs in different countries from all the foreign TWC students. This post is going to be about some of the Halloween related things I did here in D.C.   Volunteering with the YMCA

Just a warning, there are quite a few photos in this post!  Here are some of my favourite places to visit/things to do in D.C. so far. Tidal Basin

Always Learning in D.C.

Monday, October 20, 2014

This week was quite educational for me, and  I feel that it is important to update you on what I am learning here in D.C. So over the past few days, I went to a panel at a think tank, as well as the educational sessions of my civic engagement project. I thoroughly enjoyed both events, as I think I became more engaged in the community and knowledgeable about topics that one does not think about daily. Philadelphia in a Day

Monday, October 13, 2014

One of the best parts about D.C. is that it is close to other large cities in the United States.  Since it is Columbus Day weekend, I decided to venture to Philadelphia for a daytrip along with a few other TWC students.  To offer a quick summary, there’s more to Philadelphia than things related to the founding of the country.
