Going Home

Thursday, August 07, 2014

Can you believe that it has already been 10 weeks? By the time anyone is reading this, I will be at home, away from the beautiful capital, wishing I could be back soon.   Aside from the cleaning and packing everyone had to do, my friends and I managed to squeeze some last minute activities in.   Biking Around

Commencement

Tuesday, August 05, 2014

The second to last week flew by, just as the other weeks have.   This week and weekend were pretty uneventful, considering people were finishing up portfolios to turn in on an early deadline or on Monday. Everyone was busy preparing for final presentations, exams, and reports.   Portfolio

Food. And More.

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

There are only eleven full days left until I leave D.C.   My friends and I are trying to make the most out of our last few weeks, so this week was full of food... and more!   I hate to say this, but I'm pretty sure I love food. I'm probably a "foodie." Well, I'm definitely a foodie. It probably annoys people that I take pictures of my food at the table. I haven't really put any food pictures on Instagram since I have been here, but I do have a small collection of food photos.   Ben's Chili Bowl

So Close

Saturday, July 19, 2014

There are only three more weeks until the end of my internship and the end of my time in Washington, D.C. I still have so many tourist-y things to do while I am here, but getting to do them is difficult considering it literally takes a whole day to go through one museum. Also, it's difficult to do everything you want when you also have to be responsible. How great would it be if I could just be solely a tourist for two months? However, that is not my reality...   As usual, I will give you an update of my week, starting with programming.

This week was extremely eventful.Smithsonian Museum of Natural HistoryAnother fun programming event was planned this week: a visit to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History!! Since I have been in Washington, I have not visited any Smithsonians, so Monday was a landmark day for me.

Fourth of July

Friday, July 04, 2014

According to my friend Abbi, as of Thursday, July 3rd there are 37 days left. It's exactly the halfway point of our experience. I know I have written this before, but really, where has the time gone?   This week was the week of the Fourth of July. It's THE holiday that one should be in the capital for. I can't believe I was here for such a holiday, but before I write about my Fourth, I should write about my adventures beforehand.   National Archives

Goodbye, June. Hello, July.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

It's hard to believe that we are halfway through our intership experience in D.C. It seems like just yesterday I arrived in Washington. Where has the time gone?   Career Boot CampFor this week's programming, we attended Career Boot Camp, which was held at the National Association of Home Builders. It was pretty warm Monday, so I am sure that I'm not the only one who disliked walking to the event. On our way to the location, we passed the building of The Washington Post, but I did not know we passed it until I was on my way back.

Change of Plans

Sunday, June 22, 2014

How has everyone been? I hope all has been well!   This week has been less eventful compared to the past weeks. In the past weekends I visited the Mall, the Capitol, and other places, but this weekend I only went to one museum. Despite not doing much and still having to complete several assignments, overall it has been a relaxing week.   Simpson-Mineta Leaders Series

So Much to See, So Little Time

Sunday, June 15, 2014

It's interesting to see how others and I have adapted to Washington so far. I love not driving, coming from a place where one has to drive to get anywhere, but I hate weekend travels on the metro. I love being able to pass by government buildings and monuments daily as I walk to work. I'm pretty much in love with D.C.   First Class Outing

Many Firsts of the First Week

Monday, June 09, 2014

A little over a week has passed since my arrival in such an awe-inspiring city.   The first official week flew by. The speed at which the week went by makes it feel like it was uneventful, but in reality, a great deal has happened. I, along with many of the other TWC students, completed the first day of my internship and sat through the first class. I explored more of the city, met new people, and got to know others better. This week was definitely interesting, and interesting in a good way.
