Commencement and Bidding Adieu

Commencement and Bidding Adieu

The last and final weeks have crept upon all of the spring interns. Though this last week is an emotional roller coaster, I have had a substantial amount of work to complete since the semester is coming to a close. I can honestly say it was worth all the work. The most exciting news is going to be revealed in this blog, and you will not want to miss it!

One of the most exciting things the interns at my company did this week was take the internship photo on Capitol Hill. The office is adorned with every semester’s intern class that has completed the program for at least a decade, and now we are on the wall as well! Completing an internship with my company has been an honor and I have vastly expanded my knowledge and understanding of the workings of Capitol Hill while meeting important and influential leaders in both the private and public sector.

The commencement ceremony at The Washington Center was a great end to a great semester, and I was lucky enough to make it into the photo collage at the end of the ceremony. I was privileged to listen to my peers make their closing speeches, as well as our guest speaker. The program has transformed my life and helped chart my destiny.  Washington D.C. has been one of the highlights of my life. Meeting my professor, being mentored by the executives at my firm, mingling with politicos, and walking the streets of the capital has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that only The Washington Center could have made possible. However, the real magic is the connections we make, and I was fortunate enough to make a connection that has led to yet another exciting opportunity.

Drumroll please...I will be a paid intern with Exelon in Baltimore Maryland! My new internship will start June 2nd, and I will be working in cyber-security. I will be forever grateful for the lessons and chances I was given to truly make a difference in my life and those around me. I thank you all for your dedication and commitment to the future of our nation!
