Vacation and Home Sweet Home

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

After a long, hard, cold, snowy, rainy semester in Washington D.C., there was no better way to end my journey than with my one and only best friend in Miami!! We spent an incredible four days on South Beach in the glorious sun and the fabulous beaches of Miami. After those four fun days on the beach, I am finally home in Phoenix, Arizona enjoying the company of my friends and family.

Commencement and Bidding Adieu

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

The last and final weeks have crept upon all of the spring interns. Though this last week is an emotional roller coaster, I have had a substantial amount of work to complete since the semester is coming to a close. I can honestly say it was worth all the work. The most exciting news is going to be revealed in this blog, and you will not want to miss it!

The Best Things in Life are Free

Thursday, May 15, 2014

My roommate and I kicked off the weekend of April 25th with some Latin music and shimmy shaking at Café Citron in Dupont Circle. Sunday funday was spent at The National Zoo with the lions, tigers, and panda bears. This blog is meant to highlight that although D.C. is an expensive city, sometimes it does not cost a thing to have a phenomenal weekend!

Lets just say the week of April 21st started out with a home run. As a result of the interns' hard work and dedication to our company we were all given prime seats to the Washington Nationals baseball game and we even got to bring our best friends!!! Secondly, my company sponsored an intelligence conference the following day that focused on the importance of space defense and technology. I am one of the luckiest and happiest interns to be able to share these experiences with you!

The Cherry Blossom Experience

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

The Cherry Blossom Festival was surreal. Washington D.C. was brought to life with sunshine and beautiful pink flowers along every major street. Their petals floated through the air glistening as the rays of sun illuminated their descent, and the whole city burst into life to celebrate their arrival. The Japanese based festival is one I wish you could have all been here to experience, but I will do my best to bring it back to life through this blog!

My Aunt and the Ambassador

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

The week of April 7th was as lovely as any with my dear aunt Susan by my side exploring the city. In the midst of our adventures, I met Ambassador Barbara Barrett at an event at The Institute of World Politics on Tuesday April 8th.  These two women gave me their guidance and support to survive and thrive in this concrete jungle.

April Blossoms

Thursday, April 10, 2014

The first weekend of April was by far one of the best. With perfect sunny skies and the cherry blossoms beginning to bloom, the city is transforming before my eyes. There is almost a new happier conscience among D.C. residents--an extra pep in their step and smile on their faces with the arrival of spring!

Amateurs and Experts

Thursday, April 03, 2014

Washington D.C. is filled with both amateurs and experts in every imaginable topic. This week I experienced the expert culture first hand with Latin American security experts and professionals for the research paper I am writing on terrorism in Latin America and the Caribbean. There are also numerous events with panelists ranging from CEOs to Ambassadors and Generals. This week I truly felt like an amateur!

Brunch Abroad and Friends Abound

Sunday, March 23, 2014

The week of March 10th included a fabulous Women in Peace and Security event at National Defense University, a trip to Canada via the Canadian Embassy, and a visit from a friend and fellow Sun Devil!

Action-Packed Adventures

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

The week began with Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday), transitioned into foreign policy, tangoed into the weekend, and ended with a family reunion brunch at the famous Ted’s Bulletin. Each experience contributed to a fun-filled, action-packed week of adventure and memories.
