Becoming a TWC Alum

Becoming a TWC Alum

Concluding my internship did not mean the end of my TWC experience, as the last couple of days had great adventures in store. During my last weekend, I ventured out to Old Town Alexandria, where I finally completed my 'DC bucket list.' It was a great place to walk around, do some window-shopping, and get great snacks and souvenirs. While a nice trip outdoors was an excellent idea to enjoy the warm spring weather, the continued revisions of my final portfolio kept calling me back indoors. The portfolio is the result of my efforts and experiences this semester – mine ended up being 80+ pages, an outcome I am deeply proud of.

The beginning of my last week in DC brought about the TWC commencement ceremony, where it finally dawned on everyone in attendance that our 15-week adventures in DC were coming to a close. Luckily for me it also meant a highly awaited trip to the Pentagon with the CHDS group, which served as one final and fitting goodbye. As I started saying farewell to my co-workers, whom I’ve formed deep friendships with, I realized how much I had learned from them and how enriching their different backgrounds have been throughout the semester. I only wish to find people that are just as engaging and passionate about what they do throughout my professional career.

With my bags packed and sitting next to the doorway of my room, I realized that my experience at TWC had been truly amazing. Each person has their own unique experiences while going through the program. The TWC program was everything I wanted it to be: an opportunity to get professional experience in an area of interest, to create networks, and to get experience working in a different country. TWC, like any professional program, is only as rewarding as the amount of effort you put into it, giving the individual the power to make a semester in DC worthwhile. The different components of the program were truly unique experiences that I am convinced will profoundly benefit my future. I leave DC with a newfound confidence that I have taken a significant step towards achieving all my future goals.
