J'adore D.C.

So long, farewell

Auf Weidersehen, goodbye

I leave and heave
A sigh and say goodbye
Goodbye

Saying goodbye at the Washington Center is a very bittersweet experience. I was excited to see my friends and family back home, but I really didn’t want to leave everything that I’ve grown to love over the past 10 weeks. There are so many stories to tell, but honestly, I don't even know how or where to begin. I can say this: as a result of doing the Washington Center, I’ve grown into a stronger student, a more engaged citizen and more skilled individual. Though I’ve gained countless skills from this experience, I’m especially thankful for the valuable friendships that I’ve built with a number of amazing and passionate people.

Many memories of mine root from my residence in D.C: the wonderful RAF at NoMa. There are just so so many little things that I’ll remember fondly about my time there.

After Commencement at the RAF. Miss you all!

I’m going to miss listening to my friends sing Rent at the top of their lungs. I’m going to miss dancing and singing on the Fourth of July. I’m going to miss running to the Giant and recognizing the cashiers. I’m going to miss watching movies and eating Chinese food with neighbors. I’m going to miss having long conversations on a variety of balconies throughout the RAF. I’m even going to miss riding the D.C. Metro, and listening to the driver say: “Red Line, next stop Judiciary Square, doors closing”. It’s the little things, really.

If I ever need a couch to crash on when I come back to the U.S, I know I can count on my Washington Center buddies to help me out. By the way, If any of you ever want to visit the wild tundra of Canada, be my guest (but actually Alberta is really beautiful). I’m sure I can make some room on my couch, come here!

Canadians at The Washington Center!

I’m so glad I decided to venture off and spend my summer in the United States. Thank you Washington Center for giving me the best summer of my life.

Goodbye,

Katherine
