I'm Engaged!!

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Ha! Gotcha! I'm not engaged in the ring-and-relationship way like I'm sure many of you thought! Rather, I'm civically engaged... if that's a real thing. Okay, okay... let me explain! One of The Washington Center's pillars is "Civic Engagement," and all students are required to partake in a project throughout the semester that fosters awareness of an issue and encourages the student to take action towards that issue.

Oh Here, Let Me Give You My Card!

When in Rome!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Yes, actually in Rome! And what an experience that is. I took a trip to Italy from March 4-13 for a Model United Nations conference (RomeMUN) with a delegation from my home institution, Monmouth University. I know you may be thinking, well this is a blog about your TWC experiences, no? Yes... but I promise I'm going to relate this back to my time at the Washington Center in a number of ways.

Never have I ever....

Enjoyed doing homework so much. Or had Georgetown Cupcakes. That has all changed now!

Here's to the Weekend

Monday, February 18, 2013

I'll toast to that! If you've read my previous blogs, you'll remember how straight up exhausted I've been. So when it comes time for the weekend, I'm ecstatic! It's a time to relax, catch up on work, and experience D.C. This weekend in particular was going to be special... Presidents' Day was Monday so it was a three day weekend AND my family was coming to visit me on Saturday. I haven't experienced everything the city has to offer yet - I don't think I ever will actually - so I couldn't completely show off to my family.

Like, WHOA.

Sunday, February 10, 2013

I'd love to tell you I'm writing this blog from the steps of the Library of Congress or a cute little coffee shop on H Street. I'm not going to lie... I'm curled up in bed in a hotel room in Baltimore, Maryland, about a one-hour train ride away from the apartment I call home in D.C. See, despite spending my semester away from my home institution this spring, I still serve as the captain of Monmouth University's Mock Trial team. This weekend is our regional tournament.

You'll Never Forget Your First...

Monday, February 04, 2013

Our lives are full of "firsts." First places and rankings, first moments, first days, first experiences. I don't think we ever stop coming across those firsts. This past week has been choc FULL of them for me, and I can tell those firsts are leading to what is going to be the best 4 months of my life yet. So this post is going to be all about some of those experiences, those you'll never forget.   The Dreaded (?) First Day

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a...

Tourist from New Jersey? At least that's how I felt as I pulled into D.C. on Sunday, January 27th. It was my first time ever in the city, and I couldn't have been more excited. At one point, my dad pulled down 1st Street NE and I had a clear view of the Capitol Building directly in front of me, so - being the excited first time visitor I was - I stuck my whole body outside of the car window to take a picture!
