It's already October?!

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I still cannot believe that it is already October! Halloween is just right around the corner. I have managed to fall in love with this city in a matter of weeks; I never want to leave! My friends and I decided we were in dire need of some Mexican food took a trip to Harris Teeter to gather the necessary ingredients. We ended up with a cart filled with all sorts of food for taco night. We got bell peppers, a ton of tortillas, avocados for guacamole and, of course, queso! The queso was nothing like queso in Texas but it worked.

The First Debate

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

My week started out in a fun way; Monday night the other TCU J-school students and I attended The Washington Center Gala. This year they celebrated fifty thousand alumni! Can you believe it?! That is a very encouraging number. We also got to meet with our director of the Schieffer School and talk with him about how our internships are going and how we are enjoying our overall experience in D.C. The host of the night was Cokie Roberts (ABC News Political Commentator and NPR Senior News Analyst) and she was so entertaining! I really enjoyed listening to what she had to say.

Countdowns, Animals & More Cupcakes

Things have been very busy in the office since the election is fast approaching and the first debate is this week! I cannot wait to see how each of the candidates do. It should be pretty interesting!

Welcome to the Morning Side of News!

Friday, September 21, 2012

I cannot believe that I managed to write an entire introductory blog post without introducing myself to all of you! So welcome to the life of a news junkie who can be a bit of a perfectionist and never gets enough sleep! :) Is it obvious that I have been busy?! Let's take a step back for a second. My name is Lauren Galippo and I am a senior broadcast journalism major (with a writing minor) at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Although I attend school in Texas, I am not a Southerner -- in fact I am from sunny Palm Springs, California!

And this is just the beginning...

My first week at The Washington Center has been amazing so far! TWC's Residential and Academic Facility (RAF) is beautiful, spacious and in a great neighborhood. The RAF is very close to the metro system, which is convenient since most of our internships are in different parts of the city. The RAF is also close to Union Station and H Street where there are a lot of delicious restaurants, coffee houses and cute shops.
