Where Would I Live?

Housing Information

The Washington Center guarantees housing to all students who complete a Housing Reservation Contract by the required deadline.  Students do not live in dormitories.  Instead, they share apartments with other Washington Center interns in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C, and suburban Maryland.

The apartments are located in well-lit, high traffic neighborhoods that provide comfortable surroundings. You'll have access to Washington's Metro subway system, shops, restaurants, and convenience stores.

Although there are differences among the various housing units, all offer:

  • Fully furnished, air-conditioned apartments

  • Fully-equipped kitchens and private bathrooms

  • Laundry facilities

  • High speed internet access

  • Local telephone and basic cable service

  • 24-hour front desk coverage or secured access building

Student Services

Supportive Housing and Student Life Office
With its staff of four full-time student services professionals and with resident assistants assigned to each building, The Washington Center allows you to take responsibility for your living but also be assured that support is available 24 hours a day, in case of an emergency. Almost every weekend the Housing and Student Life staff has an event planned--from a walking tour to kayaking to a pancake breakfast--where students can meet and enjoy time together.

Getting Around Washington D.C

Like most major cities, Washington, D.C., suffers from traffic congestion and limited parking space. Accordingly, interns are discouraged from bringing a vehicle. Fortunately, the area's efficient, safe, and attractive Metrorail and Metrobus systems can take you anywhere you need to be right from your TWC apartment.

You will be commuting to your placement site on a daily basis, to and from your evening course, and to Leadership Forum events.

In your spare time, you will likely explore the area with fellow interns. Metro provides service 20 hours per day, so you can get where you want to be on your own schedule.
