International Students
Russia
“I believe that only practice can prove that theories work. By engaging myself as a foreign intern in a real business in the U.S. TWC helped me to make the first chapter of my career very successful. In the face of global crisis striking every part of the world, exposure to the international experience via TWC, made me more competitive. Flexibility and efforts of TWC’s program managers during the placement process is outstanding. My internship at Oppenheimer & Co. was such a perfect match for me! This alone showed TWC’s outstanding commitment in advancement students’ professional growth.”

The Washington Center launched its Russian Initiative Program in spring 2008. TWC staff conducted several visits to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities to develop partnerships with major Russian universities and colleges.
TWC is currently negotiating with Moscow State University, Moscow International Business School, Financial Academy, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Plekhanov Economics Academy, Moscow State University of Humanities, Russian Foreign Trade Academy, Tver State University, Tver State Technical University and others.
In 2008 an agreement was signed with Moscow International School of Business (MIRBIS), a leading Russian business school, and Saratov State University. TWC and MIRBIS will work on several projects together, both internships and academic seminars. The plan is to establish partnerships with 10 new Russian universities in 2009.
In 2008 several Russian students from Moscow State Institute of International Relations and St. Petersburg University took part in spring and fall internships. One of these students was offered an International Leadership Award, while two others participated in the fully funded Ford Global Scholars Program.
In its fundraising efforts, TWC also approached U.S. and Russian companies to help more Russian students participate in internship programs. If you are a student or young professional from Russia and are interested in receiving more information, you can contact TWC directly at Andrey.Gidaspov@twc.edu.
