The International Leaders Award
The Washington Center announces its new “The International Leaders Award” to provide financial aid for international students enrolled in Universities around the world. This fund is possible due to generous contributions from corporate donors as for example, The Coca Cola Foundation.
This fund was created to empower international students to champion business and social development for the betterment of their countries and the world while cultivating responsible global leadership. It also promotes the exchange of cultural knowledge and skills, providing a platform for a structured exchange of ideas among participants from different countries. The Washington Center believes that this fund will have a long-lasting impact upon the future choices and paths of the recipients. Upon return to their countries, awardees will be able to incorporate all the information and skills learned during the semester and play a significant leadership role in promoting economic, political and educational reforms around the world.
This honors fund will be available to the best and the brightest international undergrad students enrolled in a university outside the United States. The Washington Center will award up to 9 Tuition fellowships per year. The fellowships will be awarded to applicants that have demonstrated leadership, outstanding academic achievement and a clear vision on how their fellowship will address a global issue. To qualify participants must be enrolled in a university outside the United States, demonstrate proficiency in English, have a 3.0 or higher academic grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
The International Leaders Award will cover the $5,670 tuition cost associated with the program for the 15-weeks Spring or Fall 2008 semesters. The International Leaders Award is not available for the Summer.
Recipients must cover all other expenses, including $125 application fee, $100 J-1 Visa SEVIS Fee (paid directly to the US Department of State), housing, airfare, health Insurance and living expenses.
