Make the Most of Your Future

Not all internships are equally valuable. To get the most out of an internship, you need one that gives you substantive, résumé-enhancing experience with a respected organization. For 35 years, students have found The Washington Center’s program an excellent means of finding that kind of opportunity, enriching their studies and launching their careers.

Internships here are substantive.Through TWC’s connections to more than 1,000 internship sites, you’ll have access to myriad opportunities that suit nearly any major, interest area, or career goal. The work you do will be valuable, mostly non-clerical, and it will strengthen your résumé.

The program is academically respected.Academic credit is awarded by your home institution. You’ll enroll here in an engaging academic course that meets once a week, and take advantage of other learning opportunities that leverage all that Washington, D.C., has to offer.

You’ll have unusual access.You’ll have unique opportunities to interact with speakers and panelists who are leaders, influential thinkers and prominent practitioners from the public, private and nonprofit sectors. You also often have an insider’s access to Washington institutions and sites.

The student body is diverse.There is rich diversity here. Students from many different races and cultures, and with many points of view come from public and private institutions in all 50 states and 35 countries. Between 15 and 20 percent of our student body comes from institutions outside the United States.

The world is at your fingertips, too.You can explore the world as you test-drive a career. TWC offers Intern Abroad programs in London, England and Sydney, Australia.

Students are well-supported.Housing is provided in comfortable apartments—not dorms—and a total of 140 professional staff, associate faculty and resident assistants work to ensure your needs are met.
