Ford Global Scholars Program
This program enables 10 international students and 20 students from the United States to acquire skills for promoting sustainable development around the world during the fall semester. Sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, this program combines a four-days-per-week internship with a full day of educational activities based on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. This program is restricted to students from Brazil, India, Russia, South Africa and China.
The U.N. Millennium Development Goals set out specific targets and corresponding indicators for:
- Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.
- Achieving universal primary education.
- Promoting gender equality and empowering women.
- Reducing child mortality.
- Improving maternal health.
- Combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
- Ensuring environmental sustainability.
- Ensuring global partnerships for development.
During the program, participants analyze mechanisms to continue advances on these goals, learn how to facilitate strategic global partnerships, and promote best business practices to advance them.
International Ford Global Scholars receive a scholarship that covers the application fee, program fee, housing fee, SEVIS fee, and health insurance for the duration of the program.
