The Washington Center to Honor and Celebrate its Academic Partners and Higher Education Civic Engagement Award Winners [1] at Academic Affairs Luncheon at the National Press Club. From liaisons to private and public universities, faculty leaders and university systems, The Washington Center works with a number of partners to provide students with a rewarding experience in Washington, D.C. Once a year, The Washington Center rewards these partners during its Academic Affairs Luncheon. This year’s luncheon will be held at noon on Monday, October 4th 2010 at The National Press Club.
This year’s Academic Affairs Award [2] recipients include: Political humorist Mark Russell (Civic Education Leadership Award), White House Director of Management and Administration Bradley J. Kiley (Alumnus of the Year Award), Professor Mercedes Medina of Miami Dade College (Faculty Leader of the Year), Dr. Adele Darr & Dr. Elaine Jordan of Arizona State University (Liaisons of the Year), Furman University (Private University of the Year), Iowa University (Public University of the year) and The Massachusetts System of Public Higher Education (University System of the Year). In addition, The Washington Center will honor six institutions with the 2010 Higher Education Civic Engagement Awards. The institutions receiving the awards are: The College of New Jersey, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Miami Dade College, Santa Clara University, Wagner College and Western Carolina University.
Later in the year, The Washington Center will also acknowledge the internship sites, supervisors and mentors who are such an integral part of the students’ learning experience during their stay in Washington, D.C.
