On March 28, 2012, TWC interns from Wisconsin met with Congressman Sensenbrenner and his legislative director, Amy Bos, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. The students, who attend Alvernia University, Regis University and University of Iowa, spoke with the congressman and his staff about policy issues such as:
• The Patriot Act
• Energy/Gas Prices in Wisconsin
• Homelessness
• Education and standardized testing in Wisconsin
When asked about the visit, Kara Gleason from University of Iowa said: " Today’s dialogue increased my knowledge of how to influence and engage my government. I’ve learned to pay closer attention to legislation that my congressional representatives are sponsoring so that I myself can gain a better understanding of office. "
