Tara Sonenshine, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, spoke to the International Affairs Program on Monday, July 16th in the Dean Acheson Auditorium at the Department of State [1]. She discussed the importance of making people to people connections between the United States and other countries when holding a position in the field of diplomacy, as well as the role of social media in the Arab Spring revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa.
She and members of her staff finished the presentation by answering questions and giving advice about careers in foreign policy and the State Department.
Biography
Tara Sonenshine was sworn in as the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy on April 5, 2012. Prior to her current position, she was the Executive Vice President at the U.S. Institute of Peace.
