Dr. Chad Moutray, chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) [1], spoke to the Business and Global Trade Program at TWC's Residential Academic Facility. He provided an update on the economic status of the manufacturing industry and the high demand for skilled employees. He encouraged interested TWC students to look into high-skilled trade jobs, as well as careers in the fields of science, technology and math.
Dr. Moutray has taken it upon himself to help spread the message of NAM's work and change the skewed perception pursuing a high-skilled trade job as a career. Both Dr. Moutray and NAM have been working to promote the importance of trade skills throughout high schools and community colleges and the importance of these types of careers to the economy. Dr. Moutray is a firm believer that different tracks should be created for different people and that every hard working individual should be seen as equal.
Biography
Chad Moutray is the chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), where he serves as the NAM's economic and spokesperson on economic issues. Before joining NAM, Dr. Moutray was the chief economist and director of economic research for the Office of Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2002 to 2010.
