TWC interns participating in the Veterans Civic Engagement Project attended an event at Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
Audience members were given the opportunity to hear from Sherman Gillums, Associative Executive Director of PVA. He suffered from a cervical spine injury in 2002, which unfortunately ended his military career at the ripe age of 29. Following his accident, Sherman received an honorable discharge from military service and has been pursuing a career in disabled veteran advocacy ever since. Sherman presented to students about a series of issues that face paralyzed veterans.
