Spring interns attended a panel on Social Responsibility and Philanthropy at The Washington Center’s Residential Academic Facility. The event featured four speakers who are experts in both nonprofit and philanthropic landscapes. The panelists discussed their efforts at a variety of well-known corporations and nonprofits.

- Alison Miller, director of community affairs at the Oracle Education Foundation
- Herbert B. Tillery, executive director of the College Success Foundation
- Douglas Wood, program officer for the Ford Foundation's Advancing Higher Education Access and Success Initiative
After summarizing their backgrounds and how they achieved success in their current positions, the panelists took questions from interns on topics such as:
- Dealing with failures while managing multi-billion dollar budgets
- Maintaining efforts to aid disadvantaged youth and adults
- Helping their organizations maintain a positive image without appearing to push an agenda
- Setting and achieving goals despite poor economic conditions and other fiscal challenges
