TWC interns from California were given the opportunity to meet with U.S. Senator, Dianne Feinstein and her legislative staff during her weekly Constituents breakfast in the Hart Senate Office Building. The students, who attend the University of San Diego, Dickinson College and University of California-Irvine, discussed various concerns and policy issues such as:
The experience allowed the students to expand their knowledge on several issues that affect their home state of California. Sophia Carrillo, a student from the University of San Diego, thought she “knew how to successfully engage with my elected officials, but what I learned most from today was that different congressional offices have different styles of formality and openness.”
Overall the students all agreed that this program was a beneficial learning experience and they can’t wait to do their part in making the “The Golden State” shine even brighter!

Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill (PPDCH), sponsored by Verizon Wireless, provide students with the unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Senate or House of Representatives representing their state or congressional district.
