The Washington Center is committed to providing quality programs that help to create the next generation of leaders and to make these programs accessible to every student who wishes to participate. As the cost of education rises and the demand for TWC’s program grows, support from TWC’s alumni and friends continues to be essential to the organization’s ability to keep this commitment.  Supporting a student provides our donors an opportunity to support a transformational experience for future leaders who would otherwise never have an opportunity for the experience.

No matter the size, every gift to The Washington Center made by the organization’s alumni and friends has a lasting effect on students. This impact is seen every day as students begin to transform theory into practice, ambition into purpose, and potential into achievement over the course of a semester in Washington, D.C.

 

How to Contribute

Individuals are encouraged to make gifts to TWC in the following areas:

  • Unrestricted support that goes where it’s most needed.
  • Scholarships and programs [2] to bring more students to Washington.
  • Endowment and naming opportunities [3] to support TWC well into the future.
  • Capital gifts [4] to build and maintain TWC’s campus.
  • Attend the Annual Gala [5] to celebrate TWC’s partners and work.

How to Contribute to TWC

There are many different methods for making a gift to The Washington Center. TWC’s fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31.

Methods of GivingPledgesDonors may make pledges multiyear pledges to The Washington Center at any time throughout the fiscal year.

Cash/CheckDonors should make checks payable to The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars and deliver them to the organization at:

Online GiftsThe organization accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express. Donors may contribute online. [8]

Gifts of SecuritiesDonors may make gifts of appreciated securities, including mutual funds. For details, please call Ryan Klang at (202) 238-7965.

Planned GiftsDonors may make bequests or deferred gifts to The Washington Center through their wills and estate plans [9].

Matching GiftsGifts to The Washington Center may be matched by the donor’s employer [10].

CFC/United WayGive to The Washington Center through your workplace giving campaign. [11] The organization’s CFC number is 10234.

More Ways to Help TWC

  1. Make a financial gift [12] to The Washington Center. Every gift, regardless of size, helps.
  2. Ask your employer to match your donation [10].
  3. Help recruit future interns to The Washington Center at your alma mater.
  4. If you work in Washington, apply to host The Washington Center's interns [13].
  5. Hire alumni of The Washington Center.
  6. Become a fan on Facebook. [14]
  7. Mentor current students.
  8. Attend a TWC alumni event [15] in your area. We will let you know when an event is planned.
  9. Host an event for TWC. (Events include student receptions and alumni gatherings.)
  10. Share your story in our alumni section [16].
  11. Keep in touch! Update your mailing address, e-mail address, job information, birth of children, etc., by emailing alumni@twc.edu [17].
  12. Register for the Online Alumni Community [18], our Facebook group [14], and join our group on LinkedIn [19] to stay connected with fellow alumni.
  13. Be sure your alma mater is well informed about The Washington Center and they know how to affiliate with TWC [20]. Offer to meet with liaisons and prospective students to tell them more about TWC.
  14. Help identify potential donors for scholarships, endowments, and naming opportunities. Share our Annual Report with them.
  15. Write a letter of recommendation for a student applying to The Washington Center.
  16. Read Promise, the alumni newsletter, and share it with a friend when finished.
