Update: All TWC Academic Courses, Civic Engagement and Career Services events are canceled today, Thursday, February 13th.

TWC wanted to provide some helpful information so that you can prepare for the upcoming snow storm. Weather models indicate the Washington, D.C. metro area may receive anywhere from four to eight inches of snow. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia which will be in effect from 8pm on Wednesday to 3pm on Thursday.

Here is how you can prepare:

  • Make sure you have plenty of food and water on hand. Although grocery stores are likely to stay open during this storm, essential items may be gone quickly.
  • Although we don’t anticipate power outages, they can occur during a storm of this magnitude. The Washington Center recommends each apartment to have one flashlight on hand.
  • Ask your internship supervisor about how and when to obtain information about your internship operating status. You should follow all proper protocols for your individual internship location.
  • The shuttle may not operate during the height of the storm so please prepare accordingly.
  • The Washington Center will inform you of any academic course cancellations via text message alert and MyTWC.
  • The Washington Center may close during the storm however you always have around the clock support from The Student Services and Alumni in Residence Team. If you have any questions during the storm or urgent matters please utilize our on call phone line at 202-412-5302.
