TWC Students Experience the Republican National Convention
The threat of Hurricane Isaac could not damper the spirits of the 138 students attending the Republican National Convention (RNC) Seminar. The students, who travelled from over 60 institutions to Tampa, Florida, were treated to a brilliant and insightful week of speakers, panels and programming. It was not all work and no play as these students had the opportunity to explore Ybor City, attend a variety of receptions and had the opportunity to know each other on a more personal level during their small group sessions.
Welcoming Reception at Glazer Children's Museum
On Sunday, August 19th, seminar attendees were given the opportunity to attend a reception thrown by Hillsborough Community College, TWC's academic partner in Tampa, at Glazer Children's Museum. The Glazer Children's Museum is owned by the family of TWC alumnus, Avram "Avi" Glazer. On Wednesday, August 22nd, students received their fieldwork placements after attending a reception hosted by TWC at the Florida Aquarium on Wednesday, August 22nd. These students will be working "around-the-clock" next week to make one of Tampa's most exciting events a reality.
Exclusive Tour of the Tampa Bay Times Forum
Students ended their week with a bang after an exclusive tour of the Tampa Bay Times Forum. During the tour, the students were given a sneak peek of the much talked about official convention podium and stage. Next week they look forward to being a part of convention history and contributing to the overall success of the event!
