Students meet with Counselor of Belgian Embassy in D.C.

The Fall 2013 Flemish Government Scholars wrapped up their semester with a breakfast held at The Washington Center (TWC) headquarters for William DeBaets, counselor at the Embassy of Belgium in Washington, D.C. DeBaets had the opportunity to learn about the student’s experiences and professional skills gained during the past semester. Overall, the student's time in the nation's capital helped contribute to their cultural enrichment and allowed them to create strong ties with their American and international counterparts.


TWC's partnership with Belgium was established in 2010 by the Flemish Minister of Education, Youth, Equal Opportunities, and Brussels Affairs. Students nominated and selected by the Flemish government receive fully-funded scholarships to participate in The Washington Center's academic intership program, where they are provided with opportunities to gain a better cross-cultural understanding of life in the U.S.
