The Washington Center recognized 10 universities for their above and beyond commitment to experiential education at the 2016 Academic Affairs Awards Luncheon on Monday, Sept. 26 in downtown Washington.

The Academic Affairs Awards honor universities that distinguish themselves from peer institutions by using high impact best practices in academia to make a real, measurable impact on their students. The Higher Education Civic Engagement Award highlights institutions that are forging transformational partnerships beyond campus to define and address issues of public concern, whether at the local, regional or international level.

"When you consider the terrific partners we have already recognized today, you can see that it is when we partner with others that we are at our best and we accomplish the most,” said TWC President Chris Norton. "Without our college and university partners, we would not be able to do what we do."

  • Saint Joseph's University - Private Institution of the Year
  • Frostburg State University - Public Institution of the Year
  • Samford University - New Affiliate of the Year

  • Jana Spain, High Point University - Liaison of the Year
