A New Partnership with the U.S.-Japan Research Institute
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) and the U.S.-Japan Research Institute (USJI) formalized a ground-breaking partnership on September 11th that will connect Japan’s top eight universities to TWC's programs.
TWC's partnership will work with USJI to develop a grant proposal providing 20 Japanese students with funding during their time to Washington, D.C. The proposed two-week program will promote engagement between Japanese and U.S. students to identify “cross-sector” solutions to the challenges facing Japan’s hard-hit Tohoku Region.
USJI institutions include:
- Doshisha University
- Keio University
- Kyoto University
- Kyushu University
- Ritsumeikan University
- University of Tokyo
- University of Tsukuba
- Waseda University
“This is an exciting step with great potential,” said Mike Smith, president of The Washington Center. “We are proud to work with USJI to increase the opportunities for a more globalized education experience for both American and Japanese students.”
