TWC Interns from Montana and Washington met with Senator Maria Cantwell at her Constituent Coffee Hour in her office in the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. The students, who attend Montana State University-Bozeman and University of Washington-Seattle, spoke with the Senator about policy issues concerning:

  • Gas Prices
  • Higher Education costs
  • Energy/Environment

When asked about the visit, Daniela Najera from the University of Washington-Seattle said: “Even though it took time out of Senator Cantwell actually talking to us about issues, I really enjoyed how personal she made the introduction process. It shows she really has an interest in the people and communities of Washington. Also it was cool hearing what others were doing not just in their communities but what brought them to D.C.”

Students who participated in this visit included:

  • Forrest Cyr-University of Montana-Bozeman
  • Daniela Najera-University of Seattle-Washington

Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill (PPDCH), sponsored by the Verizon Foundation, provide students with the unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Senate or House of Representatives representing their state or congressional district. This is one component of The Washington Center's internship program.
