Minnesota Students Meet Rep. Erik Paulsen
TWC interns from Minnesota met with Rep. Erik Paulsen in his Cannon House Office Building. The students, Allison Schlaeger and Kelsey Hulbert, spoke frankly with Rep. Paulsen on issues such as:
- The budget sequester
- Bipartisanship in Congress
- The congressman’s professional background
The congressman's office itself was of particular interest to the students - besides numerous Minnesota pictures and memorabilia, hanging on one wall of the congressman's personal office is a full-sized Wenonah-brand canoe.
Students who participated in the meeting included:
- Allison Schlaeger – Ball State University
- Kelsey Hulbert - Saint Mary's University of Minnesota

Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill (PPDCH), sponsored by Verizon Wireless, provide students with the unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Senate or House of Representatives representing their state or congressional district. This is one component of The Washington Center's internship program.
