TWC Interns from Michigan met with Senator Debbie Stabenow at her Constituent Coffee Hour in her office in the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. The students who attend Michigan State University, Grand Valley State University and University of Michigan-Ann Arbor spoke with the Senator about policy issues concerning:

  • Veterans Affairs
  • Health Care
  • Green Jobs/Energy
  • Higher Education funding

When asked about the visit, Bryan Czako from Michigan State University said: “I think today’s dialogue really enlightened me with regards to the amount of time and effort that the legislative staffers put into understanding and thinking critically about a variety of public policy issues. Marta’s discussion of energy and the vital role that Michigan currently plays in wind and solar power was powerful and meaningful.”

Students who participated in this meeting included:

  • Bryan Czako-Michigan State University
  • Michael Williams-Grand Valley State University
  • Samuel Hanna-Grand Valley State University
  • Brandon Schneider-University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

This is one component of The Washington Center's internship program.
