TWC interns from Massachusetts were given the opportunity to meet with Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) and a member of his legislative staff. The meeting took place in his office at the Cannon House building.

The students, who attend the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, University of Massachusetts and Bridgewater State University, were able to speak with Rep. Keating and his staff member about various state, national and international concerns and policy issues such as the cyber security bill, military cost cutting and TSA perimeter security policies. This experience expanded the student’s knowledge on several issues that affect their home state of Massachusetts.

Students that participated in the meeting included:

  • Kevin Rutherford-University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Paul Keenan-University of Massachusetts
  • Christopher Anderson-Bridgewater State University

Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill (PPDCH), sponsored by the Verizon Foundation, provide students with the unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Senate or House of Representatives representing their state or congressional district. This is one component of The Washington Center's internship program.
