The Cordova Congressional Internship Program and the Political Leadership Program enjoyed a distinguished panel of speakers who discussed the relationships between lobbyists and legislators and how they promote policy-making.

The panel

• Douglas Hoelscher, TWC alumni ('98) and director of state-federal relations for the Governor of Iowa
• Jim Kessler, senior vice president for Policy Third Way
• Michael McMenamin, TWC alumni ('85) and senior counsel-managing director for Alcatel-Lucent
• Karen Price-Ward, TWC alumni ('92) and community affairs/grassroots manager for Southwest Airlines

The panel addressed the myths, stereotypes, challenges and benefits of the work of lobbying and how it influences and shapes the public agenda in Washington, D.C.
