Over 250 interns from all over Washington, D.C. attended the first ever InternsROCK! kickoff at the Gallery Place Chinatown Mall.  The event lasted from 5-7 p.m. and featured some of the InternsROCK! businesses and retailers participating in the city-wide intern appreciation week from June 8-17th.

Businesses and retailers included:

  • Hugh and Crye in Georgetown, who raffled free ties and provided shirt fittings to male interns
  • D.C. United, an InternsROCK! partner, who raffled six tickets for their college/intern night on June 30th
  • Aveda Institute in Chinatown, who provided chakra readings and raffled a $250 gift basket with their latest products
  • Washington Sports Club in Chinatown, who provided free demonstrations and raffled off a personal training session
  • Haagen-Dazs in Chinatown, who provided 200 scoops of ice cream
  • Lucky Strike in Chinatown, who raffled two hours of  bowling for the winner and 7 friends
  • Madame Tussauds in Chinatown, who raffled four tickets to The President's Gallery

Interns were also given the opportunity to pick up key cards for the remainder of the intern appreciation week and picked up free InternsROCK! sunglasses.

To date, more than 60 vendors and 2,400 interns have signed up to participate in InternsROCK! week. The Washington Center would like to recognize local businesses for providing their services and products while simultaneously assisting The Washington Center in recognizing the contributions of interns throughout the city.
