Celebrating Alumni: TWC’s 3rd Annual Holiday Party
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) celebrated its third annual alumni holiday party with more than 100 alumni and many current TWC students. The event took place on the second floor of TWC headquarters.
In addition to a live band and hors d’oeurves, invitees enjoyed a warm welcome from TWC President Mike Smith. He reflected on his time at TWC, celebrating the 1,600 students who completed internships or seminars over the last year as well as the milestone of more than 50,000 alumni since the organization’s founding.
Smith made a toast to the current students at the event and spoke about many of their accomplishments, such as their Civic Engagement projects on:
- Torture Abolition
- Homelessness and Poverty
- Israeli-Palestinian Peace
- Global Women’s Rights
- Children’s Health and Hunger
TWC alumna, Erin Cohan ('00), capped off the evening by announcing TWC’s alumni community on LinkedIn and the creation of a new Facebook alumni page. She also raffled off prizes including:
- Lunch with Norman Mineta, former U. S. Secretary of Transportation
- Coffee with NBC Nightly News correspondent Luke Russert
- TWC Gala tickets
- Gift cards to Barnes & Noble
- A Verizon suite for the Monster Jam
The TWC alumni holiday party was filled with great food, great people, great presentations, and most of all the great feeling that The Washington Center is more than just a community—it’s a family!
