Living in Washington, D.C., is an education in itself.  It’s an exciting city of contrasts: from the sprawling National Mall and historic monuments to an eclectic array of restaurants and trendy jazz clubs.  Free time here is an adventure and the ideal complement to time spent on your internship.

You’ll want to wander through the treasures of the Newseum, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of Natural History. You’ll enjoy discovering the galleries, shops, clubs and cafes of U Street, known for its vibrant music and poetry. You’ll love strolling through Georgetown and exploring Foggy Bottom, home to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. You can take in a sports game or simply enjoy one of the many parks and green spaces. The city is an endlessly fascinating celebration of American life and culture; as an intern with The Washington Center, you’ll be able to experience it all!

The Metro Makes Transportation EasyGetting around Washington is easy too, thanks to the convenient Metro system. Most destinations—your internship site, The Washington Center headquarters, a neighborhood grocery store, or a nightspot you want to check out—are within easy reach. The truth is, bringing an automobile to Washington can be more of a hassle and an expense than a help when public transportation is readily accessible.

While taking advantage of your internship and TWC’s sponsored activities will consume most of your weeks in Washington, you’ll never run short of engaging activities to pursue during free nights and on weekends.
