The Washington Center experience is comprised of the internship, an academic course, and the Leadership Forum. All students are enrolled in a particular program according to their area of interest. Each program focuses learning on concepts closely related to students’ intended professional fields; activities and special programming, such as panels or tours of embassies or businesses, are tailored to the programs’ core learning objectives and areas of study.

There are over a dozen main programs each term; you’ll choose a program during the application process based on your academic and professional interests and your status as an undergraduate or postgraduate. Each program offers a small group cohort with which you’ll study throughout the term, and an advisor who helps you get the most out of your internship and associated activities.

Don’t worry if you have interests that fall into multiple program areas; many programs are suitable for students from multiple majors. The internship search is conducted on an individual basis and no internship is restricted to students in a specific program. The Postgraduate Professional Development Program accommodates students in all different fields.
