A Great Way to Learn
: go beyond a typical internship
The Washington Center offers much more than just an internship. The course work and academic components of the program provide learning benefits that typical internships cannot. At the end of your stay, you’ll not only have gained valuable work experience to add to your resume, you’ll also acquire a broader view of the world and a sharper sense of your place in it.
The program includes three main components: the internship, academics, and special programming:
- You’ll work between 32 and 36 hours a week in an internship doing substantive, valuable work alongside experienced mentors and coworkers. It’s an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of your industry from those who’ve been navigating it their entire career, and are eager to help you kick start your professional life well.
- You’ll choose from a number of rewarding and highly engaging academic courses. These courses are designed to complement your internship work and help you earn academic credit from your home institution.
- You’ll participate in the Leadership Forum, a series of special programming and opportunities to learn from all the experiences Washington, D.C., has to offer. Engage with leaders from many of the city’s institutions, interact with members of Congress, get insider’s access to important organizations and sites, and work on projects that improve local communities.
