Stipend Information

If you are selected for an internship, you will receive a stipend from The Washington Center twice each month. A travel allowance is also provided. You will not be responsible for covering any program, housing, or application fees associated with The Washington Center. We guarantee housing to any accepted student, but it is not required that students live in TWC apartments.

Academic Credit

Students participating in the Federal Diversity Internship Initiative are not required to earn credit, but some students independently arrange to receive credit for the internship experience. TWC does not grant academic credit, and all credit would need to come from your home college or university. Please note that students enrolled in this initiative do not generally participate in the full academic program that TWC offers (including a course and our LEAD Colloquium). If you are interested in having TWC mail an evaluation from your internship mentor to someone at your home institution, please contact enrollment@twc.edu to provide the name and email address of the person assisting you. TWC does not collect information about whether you’re receiving credit during the application process for the Federal Diversity Internship Initiative, so you will need to proactively communicate with us on this topic.
