Fostering Life-long Civic Engagement

We recognize that great leaders are not defined merely by their ability to impact the bottom line, but also by their insight into social challenges and their ability to drive solutions that facilitate change and enrich the quality of life in their countries and communities. TWC’s programs offer various platforms to empower students to make a positive difference in their careers and in their civic lives. Through an integration of academics and professional experience with meaningful volunteer service and community partnerships, TWC prepares students to be engaged citizens in their communities, nations and the world. From seminars focused on the most pressing social challenges, to workshops on cross-sector collaboration to address health and environmental issues, to visits to congressional representatives to discuss policy concerns, our civic engagement programs immerse students in learning that fosters social issues awareness and engagement and citizenship.

Companies and foundations can partner with us to share insight on social trends, CSR priorities, and to engage TWC students in their community-building initiatives. Your gift ensures the continued growth of TWC's civic engagement programming in all platforms. Opportunities for partnership are built around three key initiatives:

  • Annual Higher Education Civic Engagement Awards - An annual event that recognizes the colleges and universities that have been exemplary in making civic engagement a central component of their curriculum.
  • Public Service Scholarships - Financial awards to students who have a demonstrated record of civic engagement and service in their communities and campuses and a commitment to careers in civic leadership.
  • Volunteerism - Through partnerships with local NGOs, students have a chance to do hands-on work in an area of personal passion. Donors should contact us to discuss a gift to a specific cause that aligns with their organization’s mission and goals.

If your organization is committed to fostering civic engagement in tomorrow’s leaders, contact us at development@twc.edu or (202) 238-7900 to discuss ways to get involved.
