Tell us a little about yourself I’m a senior at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey majoring in Biology with a minor in Jewish studies. I was born in Linden, Guyana but was raised in New Amsterdam, Guyana. I immigrated to the United States of America at the age of nine along with my father and my sister. At Stockton College I was active in student live as a Residential Assistant for two years, an Orientation Leader, the President of the Caribbean Student Association, the Community Service Coordinator of F.E.M.A.L.E.S (Focus Educated Motivated Aspiring Ladies Empowering Society) and interned at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Holocaust Resource Center. I enjoy volunteering and have done so with Circle K International organization, Atlantic City Rescue Mission and Habitat for Humanity in Rocky Mount, North Carolina during spring break 2009. In addition, I like to expand my knowledge on the various cultures throughout the world and have been bless with the opportunity to visit several countries such as South Africa, where I participated in a study tour that provided lectures on economics and crime in the country and myself along with my classmates distributed school supplies to orphans of HIV parents. What are your top professional goals? My goal in life has always been to enjoy life. To maintain my goal in life the position that I believe that would make me happy would be a international health educator. My top professional goal would be to work for the United Nations focusing on health issues throughout the world. Please identify one UN Millennium Development Goal in which you are most interested? What do you want to accomplish during this internship? During my time at this internship I hope gain experience that I will keep throughout my profession career. I would also like to expand on my knowledge about health issues throughout the world and the issues affecting the world. How will this program help you and your country in the future? This program will provide me with the opportunity to meet people from various parts of the world which will help me gain knowledge about these location and gain professional experience. During my interaction with the other individuals in program my tolerance will be challenge as does the two countries I call home. It will be great to work together focusing on a common goal and learn to keep an open mind to others perspective as many of the leaders of countries I call home lack and has only hinder opportunities to grow and develop relationships with other countries.
