BlogsMidterm UpdateSun, 10/25/2009 - 11:25pm — Melissa Lucas
So it seems like I get around to updating this blog once every 20 days or so...I will try to write more frequently. I am just having such an amazing time being so busy living here in DC that I find it hard to find time to sit down and write about it! I'll try to update on the highlights of the past two weeks or so! I cant believeMon, 10/05/2009 - 11:26pm — Melissa Lucas
My friend from San Diego was in town last weekend and we went to the Air and Space Museum and I finally got to go back to the National Gallery of Art! The first time we went there as a group, we didn’t really have an opportunity to spend enough time walking through the gallery and finally I was able to spend time really studying some of the beautiful paintings at the National Gallery with my friends. It was really great to see Mike and also to receive the CDs he brought for me from my two amazing roommates/ friends Jenny and Elizabeth!!! Later in the weekend, my room hosted an international food potluck with different cuisine from all over the world! Not only was the food amazing, but also it was so fun to learn more about the different cultures of all of the Ford Fellows! We had our first official group event at the National Gallery of Art! This was such an amazing place to have our first meeting because art really is able to transcend different languages and cultures in order to bring people together. It was a wonderful bonding opportunity and the first of many group trips to come! Even though we have only been here for less than two weeks, I feel like we have already done so much and visited so many places! A group of us went to the National Zoo last weekend and had so much fun! Next Stop...Washington DCThu, 08/27/2009 - 1:05am — Melissa Lucas
My summer has been amazing but definitely the highlight was going to SeaWorld in order to celebrate my roommate Elizabeth's birthday! We did the Dolphin Interaction and just had a weekend of fun! It was an amazing way to end my summer and say a brief goodbye (for only a semester) to some of my best friends. It was an amazing feeling when I saw the mail that "I'm the chosen one" from the International students to be a blogger of this site. My sincere thanks to TWC and Ford for providing me this opportunity. Well, why I named it "My Washington Dreams" ? |
